Behind Mandeep's Mind

My mental health journey hasn’t been easy for me, I couldn’t understand why I had such a hard time focusing in class, keeping with my assignments. It took me a long time for me to seek out help. I wasn’t diagnosed with ADHD until I was in grade 11, which was a tough time for me as no one truly understood how I felt or what I was going through. My self-esteem took a hit because I was always felt like I was disappointing everyone in my life, I started to feel anxious because I didn’t even think I would graduate from high school, as it was always hard for me maintaining good grades. The one positive aspect in highschool was my guidance Counsellor who always reminded me “take it one day at a time”, and that simple saying got me through the difficult moments, motivated me to work harder, seek out extra academic supports. I did graduate high school and that was such a proud moment for me. I recently graduated college with a diploma in Child and Youth Care. There are days that are a big struggle for me, but I still take it day by day and I remind myself the challenges are needed for me to achieve my goals and dreams. I know I can do it.
